Third Annual Summit for Women in Academic Medicine

Third Annual Summit for Women in Academic Medicine

Welcome to the Third Annual Summit for Women in Academic Medicine!

In 2019, our Summit focus is on developing skills for strong female* leaders who are prepared to speak up and advocate for ourselves, our colleagues and our trainees.  To balance the tough conversations, we are also focusing on wellness and work-life integration, giving us crucial tools to manage the complex demands of a life in academic medicine.

In line with these goals, this year, the Summit is open to all Department of Medicine faculty of all genders. We hope that including our male* colleagues for the full event will foster an environment of collaboration and allyship where we can focus on action towards creating a more equitable future.

The day will begin with breakout seminars, then we will come together in the afternoon for two panel discussions. There will be breaks throughout the day to connect with colleagues and keep the conversation going!

Through generous support of sponsors, registration for the Summit is free of charge. We feel strongly that there should be no barriers to this work and all our faculty should have equal opportunity to participate. However, if you have the means, donations in any amount to the Fund for the Advancement of Women in Academic Medicine are greatly appreciated, and will help ensure that this work continues into the future. Please click here to donate.

We also offer a half-day option for those who want to attend only the afternoon portion.

Registration for the 2019 Summit is now closed as of Tuesday, February 19, 2019. Please contact dom.events@utoronto.ca for more information.

Note that due to space limitations, we are unable to invite our colleagues outside the Department of Medicine to participate this year. If you are working in another department of the Faculty of Medicine and want to discuss ways we might help support similar initiatives in your department, please contact us.
