Shout out to our mentors!

I am constantly in awe of our faculty and all they take on, from attending our academic days, to their dedication to teaching on shift and off, to the feedback and guidance they provide our residents, to taking on initiatives to continuously improve our program.

Amongst all our faculty do, I want to celebrate a task that often goes unappreciated: mentorship. Formal and informal mentorship establishes academic relationships and lifetime friendships that are rewarding to both our residents and faculty. Mentors support our residents through ups and downs. During resident meetings, I hear the amazing work you are doing, and I want to thank you all for the incredible support you provide, both to the residents and to the program.

If you are interested in pursuing a mentorship role, here is a great emergency medicine specific article on how to approach mentorship, and a great podcast from Emergency Medicine Cases on teaching/mentoring on shift
